Astro-Cartography:

You are about to move house. You toy with the idea of going abroad. Who do you consult? A solicitor, an estate agent, a bank manager, the tourist board? What about an astrologer? Astrocartography, or Astro-mapping is an ancient tool which allows us to get a compass reading on geographical locations which can lead to vastly improved job prospects, relationships, health, finance, even fulfilling a life's ambition or, finding true love.

Traditional predictive astrology is an amazingly accurate tool for calculating the timing and likely nature of a new relationship, better job, improved health, luck or finances etc. Astro-mapping helps us to decide the where or in which direction to move to find or kick-start such an improvement in lifestyle.

It's a new spin on an ancient idea, with its roots in geomancy, as used by shamans and astrologer priests of old, a cosmic Fung Shui, or Medicine Wheel, Astro-location techniques connect the priniciples of the planets directly to an ordinary earth compass - to places we might live or directions we might travel.


These days a computer programme is used to make the necessary mathematical calculations. I look at your birth moment over-laid on a map of the world. While a conventional birth chart shows the planetary positions in relation to the sky from the place of birth - an Astro-map reveals your planetary positions in relation to the earth itself. From these visual representations I can see in which locales the influence of your natal planets are strongest, where your places of personal power lie to do with health, finance, family and so on. How you may relate to countries, cities and people from other parts of the world and how they might relate to you.

I always say I won't tell you where to go. I will just tell you what I see, and give you the information you could use to make a decision.

As I have spent much of my own life travelling the globe and living in faraway lands I can vouch for the accuracy of Astro-mapping. Originally from the west coast of Canada, I have moved around a great deal, working on the inland-waterways of Britain and Europe. I have experienced certain of my own planetary vibrations with the 'volume' turned up or down according to my geographical position, and this explains why I either felt energised and motivated, or, just out of sync . When we re-locate, natal planets shift their position. It's a sort of 'musical chairs' and when they are 're-seated' as it were, in a new place, they put the focus of your life into new areas in those different 'chairs' or countries.

Because I have travelled, I know there are places which just seem to beckon you into them somehow like a comfortable armchair. It really has to be felt to be understood.

But this is radical stuff - people must know in themselves that it is time to make a fundamental change. When you have a consultation, I may ask you where you feel you are at in your life. If you are feeling restless or looking for an escape from a bad relationship, I may suggest that you solve the problem where it lives rather than where you live!

Moving to the other side of the world in itself is not going to solve a self-defeating emotional/ psychological pattern, what it can do however is to emphasise different aspects of your natal energies so that you get more support from the environment to address it, and, ultimately, grow beyond it.

So, what is an Astro-mapping session like? I familiarize myself with your natal chart, pointing out challenges and opportunities which will present themselves over the next few years.

Usually, at this point I would ask what you currently aspire to in your life and where you feel drawn to. Are you looking for romance? Better career prospects? Improved home life? More harmony within? A more spiritual life?

I overlay the birth planets onto a map of the world and look at those areas where your planetary energies are strong. For instance, If you wanted to travel the world and broaden your spiritual or intellectual horizons it is good to get on a lucky Jupiter line, or, if you wanted to find romance you could follow Venus (if you were a man from Mars) or Mars (if you are a lady from Venus). Increased personal success, a Sun line; discover true roots on a Moon line, or find your spiritual home with Neptune. Saturn; firmer structure, challenge and perhaps a deep sense of ancient belonging, and a Moon Node line, a great destiny point which transforms your life.
